Duty Fees, Sleeves, Broken Stuff! (Also, good things!)
AEGIS HAS SHIPPED
To the US, Canada and Asia. Australia/NZ are coming. Europe should be coming now that Essen is over and communication can resume.
People have been sending us so many awesome pictures and messages, please tell us how your games go! Your favorite parts! Your least favorite! All comments!
But of course, there are things to clean up now that hundreds of boxes are all around the world.
1. Canadian Duty Fees
We really messed up here. We planned around VAT for Europe and Australian territories, but Canadian fees just never, ever came up in any conversation with our consultants, shipping partners, backers, and so many other meetings. It’s pretty baffling how we missed this, as it would have been easy to remedy.
(That said, if we had does this right, it would have added some weeks to your delivery time while we worked with a third party to disperse the games up there, so maybe think of it as a fee paid for speed?)
If you would like some cash thrown back your way however, I think that’s the honorable thing to do here. We don’t have the funds to reimburse every Canadian backer 100% of fees, but we can at least make the attempt!
This form will be open until November 9th, and then we’ll crunch some math and get some of that money back to you.
Live and learn, it won’t happen next time!
2. Not enough Sleeves?!
It wasn’t incredibly clear during the campaign, but 100 sleeves is only enough to sleeve the 100 core set robot cards. If you have the Deluxe edition, which most of you do, you’ll be short 10 sleeves (or more, if you want to sleeve all the cards). So same with the above, we can rectify that for you. Just send us an email at info@zephyrworkshop.com with “sleeves” in the title and your address for our easy, and we’ll mail you some extra sleeves no problem, no charge.
3. Broken Stuff in the Box!
Manufacturing errors happen. So far we’ve gotten a couple notifications about:
- Torn punchboards (check the back of the board #4)
- Clipped cards
- One broken board
- A missing or very loose plastic stand
- A box bumped/crushed in the mail
If there’s anything missing or broken in your box, email us at info@zephyrworkshop.com with pictures and your address and we’ll replace that for you.
4. Campaign Book
It’s coming and will be sent out via a Kickstarter update soon. Think of it as a staggered expansion. It was honestly just a bit more work that expected, I’m handling the whole process with it while working on all of these fulfillment things and lots of other responsibilities, and I’m also a perfectionist. Expect something polished and jammed with content soon.
We got famous on Reddit!
On Friday I made an imgur post about the history of developing our little robot game, and cross-posted it to r/boardgames. It went over very well, very unexpectedly. It turned into a big AMA where lots of friends and players came out to say hello, and the thread garnered 260,000 views. Now that’s just dandy.
Check that out here!
You can also see a pretty detailed series of images showing AEGIS in all of its different forms throughout the years.

NEW VIDEOS! How to Open, Play and Re-Pack
We made some new Video Content!
1. Opening the Box: There’s a lot of stuff in the box and the tutorial paper might be unclear (is it? Tell us!) so I go over some things that you might miss.
2. How to Play: Need a refresher? I finally made a new how to play video that’s not fancy, but it works! It goes over all the fundamentals.
3. How to Repack! It can seem like a jigsaw puzzle, so here’s a short video on the “official” way to put your stuff in the box and have it close properly.
HELP AEGIS SUCCEED!
If you love our game and want to spread it to the masses, tell your local game store about it. Show it to them! We should be going through several distribution channels – I know we are already up on PHD’s website. The more buzz there is, the more stores will order, and that will ultimately allow us to make more games and of course more AEGIS.
Also, if you have any favorite YouTube channels, poke them about it too! The Dice Tower, Man vs. Meepleand ProZD, among others, all have copies of the game, and if they hear demand for it, AEGIS might move up in their busy, overloaded queues.
If anyone you know would like a copy from us directly, email sales@zephyrworkshop.com and we can put in an order manually for them while we set up our store page.
ENJOY!
Send me all of your hot takes about the game! I hope it was worth the wait. I’ll continue to post updates on shipping, and also the campaign book.
And of course, after you play, remember to give us a score on BoardGameGeek, where we currently don’t have enough registered votes to make our score show up!!
Thank you all very much for giving us the pleasure of making a game for such kind and patient people.
