Take 5 November: Turducken-Bot
It’s a crazy time of year, the holidays are around the corner, convention season is starting back up, and we have a whole bunch of A.E.G.I.S news to share! So get some hot cocoa, turn on some Power Rangers, and get ready for the last Take 5 of the year!
With that, here are the top five news bits for November 2015!
Alongside the holiday season, convention season for 2016 begins soon, and we’ve finished up the 2015 with our last few fantastic ones.
November 19th to 21st, Breeze and Lauren went down to Texas with our publisher Greenbrier Games to spread the gospel of combining robots down south at BGGCon! We met with our publisher’s sales manager throughout the event to discuss plans for the game’s impending publication and Kickstarter. Texans are great, and so is news of our Kickstarter moving forward and the game becoming more awesome. We settled on a new sales model that we hope to share with you soon. And make sure to become a fan of us on BoardgameGeek!
Playtesting continues this month with changes to one very popular robot and one a little less popular. Both the ABB-100 and IKA-100 have received some balancing.
The IKA-100 was always intended to have a fairly tactical moveset, but the push/pull mechanics didn’t feel quite right for it, and it often didn’t get the spot on a team. With its new iteration, the IKA can shift it’s target three hexes in any direction, allowing you to reposition enemies and allies alike. This new iteration has proven to be both more fun and more effective to use in current testing.
The ABB-100 has long been a strong robot, boasting the power of both an A and a G type. We’ve worked on balancing it’s stats to feel more like a level one A, while still keeping the feeling and playstyle of it intact, and are currently much happier with it’s balance in the game.
In other news, G is for ‘Greene’. We have been working with the amazing graphic designer Dan Greene on many facets of A.E.G.I.S, from our logo to card redesigns. We hope to have a lot of new art to show off between now and our Kickstarter. It’s all coming along very well.
Outside of A.E.G.I.S, Zephyr Workshop has been involved in judging multiple competitions.
Breeze was selected as a judge for the Independent Game Festival and helped review over two dozen games! We would like to give a special shoutout to Tengu Boys who made the game Daruma Soul, as well as the wonderful makes of Niche, a hex based genetics game.
We were also invited to judge Hack Holyoke for the second year in a row. Breeze and Sarah went to Mount Holyoke College and saw some really impressive tech made in just a weekend, from real-time translator apps to daily diet generators for people with allergies! Congratulations to all who participated, and we can’t wait to see what happens next year!
To finish off our news for the year, we have some convention announcements. Zephyr Workshop will be debuting A.E.G.I.S at Arisia in January. We also have some exciting announcements in regards to PAX East 2016. While we’ll still be showcasing A.E.G.I.S. over in the Tabletop section, we have plans to show off a brand new card game, which has been submitted to a certain Megabooth. We have high hopes!
(It’s actually the oldest Science Fiction Convention)
That finishes up our final Take 5 for the year! Happy holidays everyone, and remember…
Fight and Unite!
